Pre-Construction Helical Pile Installation in Florida, Georgia & Alabama
Pre-construction helical piles provide deep foundation support before a building's concrete footings or slab are poured. Each pile is mechanically advanced through weak or unstable soil until it reaches the load-bearing depth and installation torque specified by the project engineer. The building's foundation is then constructed directly over the pile caps, transferring structural loads to stronger soil below.
Solid Foundations works with general contractors, developers and engineers to install helical pile systems for commercial buildings, custom homes, additions and other new construction projects. Our crews follow the approved pile layout and carefully document installation depth and final torque for every pile.
Helical piles can be installed quickly with minimal soil disturbance and are ready to support loads immediately after installation. This makes them an efficient solution for projects with poor soil conditions, limited access or demanding construction schedules throughout Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
Beyond helical pier installation, Solid Foundations also handles foundation repair services, Solid Foundations’ crawl space repair team, sinkhole repair services, and Solid Foundations’ seawall repair team for homes and businesses across Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.
Some of our most-requested helical pier installation service areas: helical pier installation services in Orlando, helical pier installation services in Tampa, helical pier installation services in Jacksonville, helical pier installation in Naples, and helical pier installation services in Sarasota.
Where Pre-Construction Helical Piles Make Sense
Some building sites are not well suited for conventional shallow foundations. Loose or inconsistent soil, deep layers of fill, high groundwater, heavy structural loads, limited access and nearby buildings can all require a different approach.
Pre-construction helical piles can support commercial buildings, custom homes, additions, warehouses, equipment pads and other structures without the vibration and large equipment associated with driven piles. Their compact installation equipment and minimal soil removal also make them a practical option for active properties and confined construction areas.
What We Review Before Installation
Before mobilizing equipment, our team coordinates with the general contractor and project engineer to confirm that the site is ready and the pile plan matches the upcoming foundation work. Important items include:
- Approved foundation and helical pile plans
- Required pile locations and design loads
- Top-of-pile and cutoff elevations
- Pile-cap and foundation connection details
- Equipment access and material staging areas
- Confirmed utility locations and overhead clearances
- Installation timing with excavation, forming and concrete work
Reviewing these details in advance helps prevent jobsite conflicts, protects the construction schedule and ensures the completed piles are ready for the next phase of the foundation.
From Installation Torque to Final Elevation
Once the pile locations are established, our crew positions the galvanized lead section and advances it into the ground using a hydraulic torque head. Additional shaft extensions are connected as needed until the pile reaches the depth and minimum installation torque required by the engineered plans. Torque readings are monitored and recorded for each pile location.
After the required capacity is achieved, the shaft is cut to the specified elevation and fitted with its new-construction cap. The concrete contractor can then incorporate the completed pile into the footing, grade beam or structural slab, creating a direct connection between the building and the deeper supporting soil.
Why Contractors Choose Solid Foundations
Pre-construction pile work has to stay coordinated with engineering, excavation, forming and concrete schedules. Our office and field teams communicate with the general contractor and project engineer throughout the job so questions, changing site conditions and scheduling needs can be addressed quickly.
Solid Foundations installs each pile according to the approved plans, maintains clear installation records and verifies final pile locations and elevations before closeout. As a family-owned, licensed Florida General Contractor (CBC1267322), we provide experienced crews, dependable equipment and the accountability required for critical foundation work.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a helical pier and a push pier?
A helical pier is mechanically screwed into the soil, with turning resistance telling the crew exactly when it's reached load-bearing capacity — that makes it a strong fit for lighter structures and new construction, including sites where hydraulic push piers can't get the same real-time read on soil conditions. Push piers are hydraulically driven and rely on the structure's own weight for resistance. We use whichever system fits your specific soil and structure.
How deep do helical piers go?
It depends entirely on the soil. Piers are driven until turning resistance shows they've reached competent, load-bearing soil — that can be a few feet or considerably deeper, which is exactly why a real evaluation matters more than a generic estimate.
Can helical piers be used for new construction, not just repair?
Yes. Helical piers are a common foundation solution for new construction on soil that won't reliably support a structure on its own, including many waterfront and low-lying sites across Florida and Georgia.
Are helical pier installations warrantied?
Yes, our helical pier work is backed by a warranty. We'll go over the specific coverage during your free on-site evaluation.
Is the helical pier evaluation really free?
Yes. Every quote includes a free, no-obligation on-site evaluation and consultation before any work is scheduled.
